“We have Cable service into our home with a cable box. The current/older Sony headphones plugs into the cable box. I am able to watch & hear TV shows via that, but I cannot hear Netflix while watching that. Can I plug this unit into the TV for both”

Yes if there is a headphone jack or Bluetooth capable connection. I just pligged mine into the aux jack and they work fine. I couldnt connect wirelessly.
