Mine is on a Vizio. Its all about plugging in a red and a white cable plus an electric outlet for the charger. Seems universal in my opinion.

You should be able to the headphones come with a 3.5 plug and r/w component for outgoing sound

Sure. It is isn't totally contingent on your TV but rather the home theater "headphones" or "output" jack on the AV receiver. Also - optional, if your TV has "phones" output jack then that will work too. However you may have to use a small adapter on the jack itself to accommodate a smaller "headphones" outlet usually found on TVs.
