• The headset needs to be charged. The base is used to charge them with metal contacts at the top of the base (similar to a cordless phone's contacts). The base has two cords. One needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet with the other into a headphone jack or similar. I can plug the headphone jack into a TV or my iPhone and use the wireless headset. I don't think this would be a good option for a plane and I don't know about the gym.
