“Can the headphones control the music played through spotify through a smart phone?”

• yes. i use my spotify with these headphones all the time. there's a switch on the headphones to play the next song or to play back a previous song. spotify or any other music app on my smartphone has never been a problem.

• I do not use Spotify, but if you can utilize voice command on that program I don't see why this would not work for you as it has voice for my selection of which device I am utilizing.
