Hi John. Thank you for your question. Ideally, your device should be within 20 feet from your router or nearest access point. A good way to test a location before getting the camera is to run a speed test while only connected to the network your camera will be connected to. As a general rule, most Ring devices function best when upload and download speeds are around 2 Mbps or greater.
