• This phone is a CDMA phone therefore it will not work with T-Mobile.

• Unless you Root the phone, it is tied to the carrier that brands it( unless it is "Non-Contract" phone out of the box). Then you also have to check if the type of phone is compatible with the cellphone frequencies used by your carrier. It looks like T-Mobile is GSM So make sure your phone is GSM and not CDMA.

• Not sure about the generation question but No-contract means it's not attached to a contract it's a pre-paid cell phone. The best bet is to call T-mobile and ask their costumer service to see what they say.
