The DAC capability gives you better audio, however, it is really only applicable for music at this time, not playing games (games don't support Hi-Res audio on the PC or PS4). There are a lot of other features that come with that little table-top controller, but you need to ask yourself if it is worth it to you (equalizer, etc.) - they are handy features right at your fingers and you don't have to ALT-TAB out of your current screen. If you are planning on using this for music also, the DAC is a nice feature and probably worth it, but your standard Artis will do just fine if you are only interested in playing games. I have the DAC version, but also picked it up on a Black Friday sale, so it was worth it. If you plan on using it for the PS4, you will find the cables are WAY too short for playing on your favorite sofa or couch. They really made the cables for a desktop application. If you want to dump all of these issues and not have to worry about cables, get the wireless version - if your budget supports it (very expensive!). If you are using this for the PS4, it's still a good headset, but you'll want to get longer cables (they are not proprietary for the PS4).

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you pay full price, definitely not. The EQ on the DAC version has more adjustments, and it's got some dedicated streaming options if you're into that. You can get close to the same sound presence with the Arctis Pro's lesser EQ, and that by itself isn't worth the extra money. I got BestBuy to price match another vendor though, and picked up the DAC version for only $20 more than the Pro ($199). For $20 more it's worth it, but definitely not for $70 more ($249 current price).

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Your question is sort of vague: WHICH cheaper option? Compared to buying both items stand alone (the Pro and the GameDAC), this IS the cheaper option, by $50-75. Using a headset with a dedicated DAC gives you finer control and more options/effects than are likely available via your sound card. Compared to other similar combos (which are often MORE expensive, like the A50) this is newer, latest tech, and has been reaping the more recent awards.
