thank you for reaching out to us. You can remotely access this unit using your mobile device on both a Wi-Fi connection and your cell signal. The devices do not need to connected to the same Wi-Fi network in order to be remotely accessed.

I can use the camera on both on my WIFI and cellular modes with my iPhone. I gave my son one of these and he uses it at his business ….he uses it also in the WIFI and cellular modes without any issues.
