“My cable modem is across the room from the dvr. Is there a way to use an adapter to connect to the internet with Wi-Fi so I can set up the "view on phone" feature? If yes please recommend what to purchase.”

You can use a wall plug. They use the same patch cable, one end plugs in to your home outlet (2 prong) and the other end into your DVR, Then you take a second one and plug it into your modem/router and the other 2 prong into an outlet. Worked great in an apartment where you cannot drill holes etc.
