The resolution of the camera is set and can not be changed. Determining your hours of video depends on if you are recording continuously or just recording evens when they occur. If you are just recording motion from the camera you can expect it to last 90+days. If you are recording 24hrs a day, you can expect the hard drive to be filled in around 30days. There is no need to record continuously in my opinion. You can still have live coverage and view the video from your phone or laptop and only record events based off of how you set your alerts.
