Hi HapCall. No, you do not require any subscription to use this product. For free you get 1 day of free cloud backup, a 32GB Micro SD Card for additional local clip backup, live view, 2-way audio, and every other key feature included. Swann do offer optional subscription plans which can extend your cloud backup to 60 days, along with gaining an extended warranty and other benefits.
