• No, if you were on HDMI1 when you shut off your TV, it will be on HDMI1 when you turn it back on. You only have to select which input you want, if you were using Android TV.

• No. But for me after a few weeks, none of the hdmi inputs work reliably. It would search forever & find nothing. Input into another device worked just fine. After hours of shut down and reboot, the TCL hdmi inputs work again. Who knows how much longer. I will return this quality-challenged product.
