Both series include a built in Roku operating system, 4K UHD, and HDR Support. The 6-Series builds on this and has additional features such as Dolby Vision, wide color gamut, HDR Dynamic Contrast, etc. For more information you can go to www.tclusa.com/products/home-theater/6-series and see the "compare all models" section. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The R series is at least one and maybe two years newer. TCL is a component manufacture. They acquire contracts on new “parts” from brand name sources and try to make a better lesser name product using higher end components. The difference is not always perceptible because the better components might have a longer shelf life or other improvements. I think but without research can not confirm the refresh rate may be faster on the R series, so check the specs on both. The $300 additional cost on the R may be worth it if you always try to purchase technology on the leading ( some day bleeding) edge. Hope that helps.
