This TV does a great job upscaling. A majority of our customers report a great experience with upscaling. Standard DVDs look good. The closer the content was recorded to 4k the better it will look. Media recorded off of a standard definition TV, at 480p may will not look as good depending on your source. Alternatively, if the lower resolution does not look good upscaled the TV does support different viewing options such as 'direct'. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
