    Excellent TV

I bought this television for my mom for Christmas for our living room and she absolutely loves it. This TV replaced a 50" 1080p 8-year-old Vizio, so it was quite the upgrade for her in the resolution department. It has been nearly a week since I gave it to her and she's still not done commenting on how beautiful the image looks. I read a lot of reviews that said that the audio was really bad on this television, so I bought a soundbar just in case, but for her the audio is terrific, so I am going to return the soundbar. My one and only complaint about this TV that cost it a star is the ridiculously short power cable especially in relation to the power port being on the side of the television. I had to rearrange our entire entertainment setup and put the surge protector several shelves up just to be able to make the cord reach. To have a TV this big and a cable that short is ridiculous. I know that a lot of people mount these on walls with fancy upper wall outlets, but for those in apartments or homes without that, this cord is massively inadequate. When buying this TV be sure to keep that in mind. If you mount this on a stand as we have it you may have to get creative to get power to the unit. But, as I said, that is the only major complaint I have about it so far. The audio is adequate, the image quality is as good as some of the way more expensive TVs I saw at my local Best Buy, and other than the stupidly short power cable it is very easy to set up. I'm sure it is nice to have the bragging rights of owning a $1000+ TV, but for those that just want to watch TV with a crisp and clear image with vibrant colors without breaking the bank then this is the perfect television. We aren't cord cutters in my house, but should we ever decide to finally cut the cord this is the perfect television for it. The Roku menu is easy to navigate. The TV defaults to starting up into the Roku Home Screen menu, but it is easy to go into the Power settings and program a cable box to be the default which is how I set it up. As with any product the negative reviews should be taken into consideration. This is just my experience after having the TV for a week. If anything changes I'll be sure to post an update to this review. But, so far, I've luckily not been able to substantiate any of the negative reviews for this product. I would highly recommend this TV. It is phenomenal for the price and checks off all the boxes for just being able to watch television and navigate all the streaming services.

This is an outstanding television. I had to step into the store and personally saw different televisions on display, and I must state that of all the brand name tvs displayed in the store, this Tcl brand beat the rest hands-down. I know the displayed devices were on store setting display but even at that setting, the TCL televisions were above the rest....including the more expensive ones (you know the names). I bought the tv and took it home. The set up was a breeze. The clarity and picture quality have remained truly amazing. Earlier in my pre-purchase research, I was skeptical reading the glowing reviews and felt that all these reviews might be over-rated. But no, the reviews are not fabricated in any way. Just take a personal visit to stores like Best Buy or Walmart or Target and see the difference between this television and the competitors for yourself. Take it home and appreciate the performance. Even the durability of tcl have been affirmed by users of earlier models. So I am soundly convinced that I made a good buy. The Roku interface is great. I am enjoying the television. Picture attached is the sample of the display in my room, and my internet is not in the super fast category, yet such an awesome picture. I know though that to get the real 4k picture, I may upgrade my internet. So go figure, if you already have excellent internet, go for this television and honestly forget about the high ends......I saw the difference with my eyes; and I am seeing it daily in my home.

    Great Price = Lose Features

This is the best value TV you can get without having to wait to get lucky and finding a better model on clearance. It’s pretty bright, but not bright enough to really make the HDR pop. It lacks a wide color gamut (you really need this for HDR) and Dolby Vision (this is the alternative format to HDR10 that a lot of films will support). Also, no Dolby Atmos sound either (films again). It’s also a 120 EFFECTIVE refresh rate TV, not a true 120 Hz (not that you need it for most content). I’ve noticed issues with the TV displaying patterns in 4K, often this causes very noticeable flicker (like chain link fences, twill jackets, roof tiles etc.). All that said, it’s a great value 4K TV. But if you’re looking to upgrade to a set that will have all these features you’ll have to get the TCL P series which is currently only available in 55in. And if you want the ultimate upgrade, you’ll have to go OLED. But is an OLED worth 5x this S series TCL? Yes if you make 6 figures or want the best picture quality available or want a future proofish set. No if you’re expecting 5x better picture quality for 5x the price. OLED may be the way you need to go if you know you’ll be unsatisfied being behind the times in terms of tech as soon as you open the box on this S series. I’ve compared this TV to an OLED and find the OLED to be 1.75x better and more likely to be a set I’d be using for 10 plus years. But I refuse to spend $2.5k on OLED.

    So Far We Love IT!

Our anniversary is next week and our older TV had some burn out and pixelation due to the tv freezing up while we were away. Rule #1..don't leave tv on for the dogs.. It wasn't horrible but we were looking to replace it. The price on this one kept dropping so I said.. lets go get it. We read all the reviews and looked at the specs and measured our car and where it will live. Had to get a longer stand for it (ok it is above a fireplace on a shelf) We squeezed it into our car by removing a seat and putting the passenger seat all the way forward and it went in no problem. My 17 yr old son and I carried it into the house. We have a Roku on another tv so I knew that the remote wasn't a real remote but I use my phone for the other tv. Once we got the legs on and got everything hooked up it was easy to set up and log into our Netflix and Amazon Prime and of course it imported all the apps I already had on the other Roku. I was worried about setting up my universal remote from Spectrum but it worked immediately with the tv. I am sure I have some tweaks to do to the color/contrast but the screen is amazing...Looking forward to the private listening feature as I often work into the night and watch tv so wearing headphones will be nice for my family. I will say my biggest worry was cracking the screen with all the warnings on the box and instructions.. and the "feet" for the tv seem a bit tiny when you see how large they are . I worried about the weight but it is lighter than our 50 inch old tv (which my son will take to the basement family room and love to play his XBox on. I have already told another friend to just go buy it!

How disappointing! I wanted to love this TV, but pervasive quality problems caused me to take it back and buy a different set from another manufacturer. The Good: We love the Roku interface and remote. The software was very simple and easy to use. Works just like a standalone Roku but with the added benefit of just having a single remote for the TV. Bright picture, responsive software. Great price for 4K and HDR. Not the best HDR processing, but good contrast and rich colors. Great deal for the money. Except... The Bad: The quality is terrible! I know all LED TVs have some degree of picture uniformity issues, but it was terrible on this panel. There was tremendous light bleeding on the TV. The edges had uneven splotches of brighter areas all around, but the sides were especially terrible. It was like a spotlight was held over the sides of the image. It was incredible distracting. Additionally, the corners were notably dark. The irony is that the because the picture is otherwise so good and clear, the issues are even more glaring. It completely ruined the experience. As if that was not enough, there were audio issues, too. Not constant,. but in particularly bass-heavy moments like explosions or ominous music, there is a buzzing or rattling I was unable to pinpoint. Because it was not constant it seems like a physical issue somewhere. This was my second set with TCL after returning the first for similar issues. TCL support was slow to respond and stopped responding to me at all after I sent in images for service. This was extremely disappointing. The Roku streaming software is such a joy to use as I've had standalone devices for years. The streamlined and consolidated remote and interface were great. I would have loved this TV if the picture and audio quality issues weren't a constant distraction.

I purchased this TV as a replacement to my 10+ year old LCD projection. I am super happy with it. A few things that annoyed me about the Best Buy staff. First, they were knocking this brand. Saying Samsung and Sony are the only way to go and ignored my price range of 500-600. Second, the Best Buy employee who helped me get it in my truck was also down on the quality and said I will most likely return it. Driving home I was second guessing my purchase. I get it hooked up and the picture was ok. I use DirectTV so I was a bit surprised how bad the lettering and fuzziness was. I googled "picture settings" and came across a few different articles and tweaked my settings along with turning native mode ON with DirectTV and all I can say is WOW. Looks fantastic. Bright. Clear. Crisp. Sports look great. XBOX looks awesome. Streaming is super clear. Oh, and the built in Roku....perfect. That is one of the big features on why I chose this over the LG. If you need a HUGE TV this has to be the best for the money. Works perfect for my needs. Super happy.

Not shabby. REMEMBER this, I paid $529.00 for a 65" after taxes. 4K UHD on this TV is straight monster (awesome). Listen to me, it's worth at least $675-$700. The TV is solid ,where as the Sharp 65" was flimsy feeling, sharp makes TCL so not sure why the difference. Roku is the bomb, alllll kinds of free movies and TV shows plus plenty of rentals, simple remote functions and TV functions, BUT, the REMOTE "stinks" the manufacturer should remake it and mail everyone a voucher for an upgraded remote, don't want to ise my phone alllll the time, I mean you have to point the dang thing RIGHT AT ON POINT to change it, believe me it gets dumb. But again the TV settings are beautiful, and adjusts to many many viewing options. If you buy this 65" TV @ $600 or below, you getting a steal. Now look, no no no its not a $1000.00 - $1500.00 TV, again it still packs a really great picture punch. Blue Planet 2 in 4k on Netflix was like absolutely whoa . My XBOXONE has 4K, and my movies and gaming is yes yes yes. Anyway, that's all I have to say about that.✌✌✌

Good: PRICE!! I compared it to the Samsung NU7100 unit near it. I was $300 cheaper and appeared to only be slightly behind in terms of viewing. Roku apps. Similar to Amazon fire apps which are plentiful 3rd party apps. Ease of navigation. Main panel when set is turned on is easily navigated. Look of design. While a bit more "bulky" than I like a flat screen, it does fit well against the wall. Bad: The remote. One of the worst remotes I have used. It is functional, but the design and button layout is terrible. You will easily bump a unwanted button and disrupt your viewing. Once you find what you are looking for on the TV, I suggest that you place the remote away from any chance of accidental touch. Sound in general. The $300 you save will be needed to invest in a sound system. No matter what pre-installed equalizer options you choose, the tv will still need you to turn the volume high to get a full range of depth. By doing this, you will of-course be distorting other ranges of sound.

I bought this TV around June for the living room and everything was great about it. About a month a 3 weeks or so ago black lines started to appear and the pixels in the TV were dead. Contacted Support and they sent out a replacement with someone to switch it out for me. Took a week to get here and the guy replaced the TV and turns out the new one was defective as soon as he turned it on. He replaced it back to the original faulty one and here I am now with no time frame when i'll get my TV replaced. Also I shelled out for Geek Squad extended warranty and called them first then they just forwarded me TCL customer service without even telling me. Not what I expected from Best Buy Geek Squad. Also, I'm not sure if that extended warranty will be passed on to the new TV once I receive it. Overall not a great situation.

Save a little more and buy a better brand, trust me. Don’t buy unless you want to go through the warranty process after only 3 weeks of owning the TV. Horizontal bar randomly appeared on bottom half of the screen from one day to next. Warranty process so far is a joke. I’m on day 2 and they still haven’t managed to look over and verify my proof of purchase, which must be done before they lift a finger to do anything. They then told me parts have to be ordered and then another 7-10 days on top of that for someone to come out and fix it. I won’t hold my breath on having a working TV for another three weeks I’m sure. And in case anyone is wondering, I couldn’t return it to Best Buy because they have a 15 day return policy. Makes a lot of sense. Thanks BB and thank you TCL for what currently feels like a gigantic waste of nearly $700.

I bought this and was at first impressed with the picture until watching something dark and the blacks washed out to a kind of blue-grey unless you were sitting right in front of it....side viewing was awful to say the least. The sound was the killer for me........at full volume you could talk right over it, it had no power and terrible sound. Even the output for the soundbar was so low that it was louder without the soundbar hooked up. Being a sound and recording engineer it really disappointed me to the point of taking it off of the wall and returning it for a Sharp for a hundred dollars more and got what I was looking for....great picture and sound. This TV is a great "poor mans" TV, but don't buy it if you are expecting something of quality, because you will go away mad. Sometimes compromising quality for price just isn't worth it. Now i know why they were so cheap!! Terrible sound especially!!

I'm guessing the two main reasons someone would consider this TV would be the built-in Roku and the 4K HDR picture. If that is where your concern stops, then this is the TV for you. What nobody could tell me and what I found out the hard way for myself is that the remote control that comes with this TV is lacking. It won't control a sound bar like my Sony did and the Best Buy version doesn't come with the voice remote, we had to order that one separately. Even after spending the $30 on the voice remote, it still won't control other devices like a sound bar and you can't use the voice capabilities within apps like YouTube. You can search across all of Roku for actors or movies or whatever, and that's nice, but if you want to search for a particular subject or video on YouTube you can't. We could with our Sony Android TV. So, it's a good TV that could have been great with just a little more effort.

I searched around for a replacement TV for my Garage/Mancave. My 55" Visio (12+ years) gave up the Ghost. Went back and forth, checked prices at Walmart, Target, Online. Didn't find a lower price than Best Buy, but even if I did, I would go with Best Buy for the reliability of Customer Service and accountability and also "Points Program". Bought Online , Delivery as Scheduled, with great communications with Delivery Depot and actual driver. Install was easy (the same brackets fit) set up on Wifi and TV with ROKU was a breeze. Was watching Netflix and other shows within minutes. For $599 for a 65" Smart UHD TV was a deal. Paid with my Amex card which (at least for Gold and Platinum) AMEX doubles the factory warranty. Ready for Sports again.

I brought this television on the 15th of June, well I thought it was a great deal and I thought I added the protection plan to my order. A month later this television just stopped working. I called Bestbuy and explained what happened but they didn't care about the money I spent on it and passed me on to the maker of the television which they haven't replaced my television yet. I was told they were sending someone out to look at it. Okay but that doesn't solve the problem. Still waiting on the company. I won't ever buy another television from Bestbuy. I don't recommend this television. They blackout very quickly and that's money just thrown away

I was expecting to be "wowed" as I was when I went from standard def to a 55" HD TV about 7 years ago. I wasn't wowed. It looks good, I do love the Roku menu style. I paid less than half for this 65" TV as I did the 55" HD one though, and it looks as good, if not maybe a little bit better. Even with a 4K Blu-ray player, I don't notice a big difference in 4K compared to 1080P though. I haven't tried it yet, but I like the idea that it can pause/record live, over-the-air TV. I'm thinking of cutting the cord when my promotional cable rate runs out and will test it then. My Visio soundbar with wireless subwoofer and surround sound gets way out of sync with the lip movement on screen. It's annoying and I can't figure out how to fix it. Not the TV's fault I don't think, and only happens using the sound bar, but something to think about.

I managed to snag 2 of these on a Black Friday sale online - one for us, one for my daughter's house. We have all enjoyed these TV's for over a month now. The smart TV with Roku is great, better than our old smart TV options. The picture is great, with options to adjust your preferences by pushing the * button on each input/platform you use. We have a Bose system to use when we watch movies or listen to music, but the regular TV voice volume is the only downside I've noticed. I think the volume on the TV is about the same as our last smart TV, but I really wish the TV companies would amplify the sound forward toward the consumer. Our TV backs to our bedroom wall and you can hear the TV almost better in the bedroom than on the couch in the living room. I'm going to see if there's such thing as a deflector to aim the sound forward. Other than that, we are very happy with our purchases.

I needed a 65" smart TV for detailed viewing by individual clients as well as groups of 25 to 35 up to 25' away. I kept my eye on numerous sources for the better part of a year. I'd already been hooked by TCL's, having purchased a 55" and a 32" so I was just waiting for the best price I could get. I missed a below $500.00 opportunity when the unit jumped back up over $500.00 after the holidays. I found a competitor that had also gone up in price but then went back down, so I checked on the price match policy and was able to get what I feel is great deal on a 65 incher! I have yet to start using the unit but also bought a 2 year warranty as I did with all of my TCLs and feel confident I'll find similar satisfaction with the 65" as we have with our 55". I'm sure I'll quickly find it to be a 5 star item once I begin using it.

I read several technical reviews on TV features, ratings, and quality on CNET before narrowing my choices. Samsung seems to be the top name in TVs right now, and the new OLED sets are amazing. BUT, they're way out of my budget. I had never heard of TCL before, but CNET had good things to say about the brand, and in fact ranked it as the best "budget" 4K TV on the market. I also read that the Roku interface was good. So, I bought it. The set-up was very easy, the Roku menu interface is indeed awesome, and the picture seems just fine to me. I have streamed a few 4k shows and thought the quality was great. The sound output can fill a room easily and the quality is fair. I have the TV sound going through a 5.1 receiver though using an optical cable. I'm happy with the purchase!

Bought this tv about 2 weeks ago. So this review is based on that time period. So far so good. The picture is really good. Better then I expected at this price point. Setup was super easy. Remote lacks features others do but not awful. But I watch tv for the picture not the remote. The Roku interface is very clean and easy to use. I haven’t found one thing so far that I don’t like about this tv. And it was one of the deals of the day today so I called bestbuy customer service and they credited my account back the difference. So overall I am very pleased with my purchase. Would purchase again in a heartbeat.

Brought this tv during the Thanksgiving/Black Friday sale, and have yet to run into any issues. The set up was very simple and did not take long. I have very much enjoyed the picture quality. I've mainly played 4K HDR and non-HDR content from YouTube and have gotten great pictures. Gaming on the TV using my Xbox One X has also been great. If you want to utilize the 4k capabilities of the tv, make sure the HDMI cables you have are rated for 4k. For the average person, this would be a great budget 4k tv.
