Made in Korea. No, there is no built in battery. Buy the Hardwire option and it will stay connected using your vehicle battery.

Made in Korea, still Asia. No battery in there because the sun will hit it and the temp. will be hot. But there is a thermo protection build in. When it's getting to hot it will turn off automatically

I believe they are in France but I don't know where the cameras are made. They do have a US/Canada customer service number and I was able to get to a real person quickly and he wasn't foreign. He was pleasant and very knowledgeable.
