I have an older model Thinkware cam. I installed the "rear view" camera above my rear view mirror instead of on the rear window. This allows for recording in the vehicle. My concern at the time was for my safety while doing rideshare, rather than what happened behind the vehicle. That model's rear cam was not very good at seeing what was going on in the back seat in the dark, but 3rd party video software can help enhance things if needed. I've read that this model's rear camera is better as far as that is concerned. Mounted there it still records out the rear window, but only about what you're able to see in the mirror. That was fine for my needs. That does limit its ability as a rear view camera. For example, it would be unlikely to get a usable recording of a license plate if you were rear-ended.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The U1000 model doesn't offer the option to record inside the cabin. It will record audio and conversations, this option can be disabled by pressing the Microphone button.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No and yes. This is a 2-channel package that is meant to record video out the front and rear window but it can also record interior sound. I do suppose you could use the rear window unit to record the interior instead.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It has to option to record interior or not. However the camera has a loud verbal recorded announcement at the beginning of every trip. It was so loud and annoying I unplugged my brand new $500 camera rendering it useless. I also find the app useless and have no recordings (prior to unplugging it) Don’t waste your money, I regret this purchase
