“Do I need to own a smartphone and a data plan for this camera to work? Must it have hotspot capability?”

• Although a smartphone isn’t required for the camera to work, you can review the recorded footage off of the SIM card from a laptop. No data is needed but if you do have a smartphone and want the option to view the dash camera remotely, a mobile hotspot is needed.

• The U1000 will connect to a Hotspot, either a specific device or your smartphone. This is required to use certain features, such as Remote Live View, however, it's not necessary for the Dash Cam to work and record.
