You do not need the internet or cable connection. I just got mine a few weeks ago and it is the easiest, simplest thing to set up I have ever had! You just need really good antenna reception. I love it! Best thing I ever did. Saving me a bundle! I do not have any streaming channels yet so not sure about how that works.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Since this is a Tivo device, if you plan to use the Tivo service for guides and recording you will need an internet connection along with an outside (or attic) antenna. I have read that if you don't have the Tivo service that you can still manually record shows, but for $6.95 I think the Tivo service is excellent with ability to record a series of shows and they are ready to view when you have the time. Tivo has other boxes which support cable if you want to utilize a cable provider. I have had Tivo devices for many years, the best interface I have seen!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need internet to keep the guide updated and to stream anything other than what your antenna picks uo
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does use internet to pull up schedule, etc. If you have a smart phone I believe you could use your hot spot to use as your internet..(not positive butI think so)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. An internet connection is necessary to download the program guide and software updates. However, programs already stored on the hard drive may be viewed without that connection. (In point of fact, when TiVO Central, which authorizes paid subscribers to operate the device, is experiencing problems, disconnecting the internet will allow playback of said programs.)
