I have had a Garmin for a couple of years, but after the latest update, it says I need to use a compatible power cord. I'm using the cord that came with the unit. Therefore I do not plan to buy another Garmin. Do TomTom GPS devices have this issue? null

I have had several Tom Tom's over the years and liked them better than the one Garmin I had before. Never experienced that problem either.

I just replaced my TomTom VIA 1535 with the GO 52. The 1535 power cable enabled traffic data to the unit. Over time my cable crapped out but I was able to operate the unit with a generic charging cable, though I lost the ability to get traffic data. Eventually the unit wouldn't charge at all, hence the replacement.

I am on my second Tom Tom. My first I used almost six years and never experienced a power cord problem of any kind. When I bought my second GPS I tried a Garmin but took it back after three days. It worked ok, but I liked the Tom Tom better. It seems, to me, easier to use.

TomTom, doesn't seem to have that issue, however I did have an older TomTom and it was no longer upgradeable online, so I researched newer models and found the newer TomTom, it seems good.
