Will I need a sound bar with a Toshiba 55". Price $429.99? null

I wouldn't think so. I have never had an issue hearing this television. It is mounted on my fireplace and I have a very large living room. I have never had to turn my television up more than 30, and that was because I was listening to Pandora while I was cleaning and wanted it loud to hear throughout the house.

It's all about your preference in sound. I personally prefer using sound bars that subscribe to multiple uses rather than just be for my TV. As in, I don't want the sound bar dominate my audio experience, I would like to have my mobile devices use Bluetooth or the Wifi signal to wireless stream music to a better sound device. I hope that helps.
