A:AnswerTotal By Verizon will issue you a phone number when you activate the phone. You can go to the Total By Verizon website, select a plan, and follow the directions. With that said, you are much better off finding a company other than Total By Verizon. Since Verizon bought the Total Wireless company, they have moved all of their customer support to a Call Center where they aren't able to help you with anything other than basic questions that are in their scripts. Search for good MVNO companies on the Internet and you'll find other options that are much better. The company you choose will send you another SIM card for free.

If your phone is an esim it's not possible to get it inside.
A:AnswerIf your "simple mobile phone" uses a SIM card and works on the Verizon network, then yes. You can go to the Total By Verizon website (or any MVNO company) and see if your phone is compatible.
A:AnswerI apologize that I can’t be much help. I don’t really know how well it worked because I had to eventually buy another phone due to other reasons.
