Yes this will work. You will have to find the best signal closest to your laptop to get the best wifi.

Please try again later.im not a pro but i was having issues with my dads 12mbs internet connection, the router couldn't blast the signal from his office to my room and if it did i'd get max like 8-10 mbs and that was with a WITH a lan cable so if you have slow internet make sure its just nost your internet speed, if your office is sharing 50 mbs with 50 people each one gets 1, a business needs a gigabit connections so you can through out 1000 mbs if you need to, 100 to 10 peole, 10 to 100 people.... but that being said, if you get this thing just plug it into any outlet on the 2nd floor, connect it to the wifi from downstairs, and it'll blass up to 300 mbs to everyone upstairs, if your modem/router downstairs is givng you enough
