The Deco M9 Mesh system is considered Tri-Band because it utilizes two primary bands (2.4GHz and 5GHz) for device connectivity, but also uses a third, separate band (2nd 5GHz) exclusively as part of the system's Dynamic Backhaul. This provides means of efficient communication between Deco units, to provide optimal network bandwidth. NOTE: This third band is not for device (phone, laptop, etc.) connectivity; it is solely a dedicated path of communication between the Deco units. Regards, TP-Link Support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is 2.4 and 5 ghz with a third band for networking between the M9 units. It does not refer to the number of units.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The triband means that the system has two wifi bands (2.4 and 5 Ghz) available for the devices at your home/facility, and on band exclusively for the wifi communication between mesh devices (pods). In relation to the number of pods or wifi devices (mesh system) I bought one presentation with two of them and then one device on its own, because I needed three of them, one per floor.
