“Would only one of the devices require a patch cord connection to the internet modem or would all three. It's not clear to me how if only one has a direct cat6 connection to the modem how the other two are receiving a communications.”

Hi! Yes, only the main Deco node needs to be wired via Ethernet to your existing Internet source. The remaining nodes connect via Mesh Wi-Fi.

I have my one device connected to the modem on the first floor and one device in the basement and the other on the second floor. The connection is great, speed is fantastic.
