You can control from your phone so once installed the app it works from the app on your phone. Not sure about WiFi as I have not experienced an outage while using

Leave it running. It must be connected to your WiFi network to perform intelligent actions. It may begin performing it's regular schedule again when the WiFi signal returns, but sometimes it needs to be manually rebooted. If the WiFi signal is found in time before your stuff is scheduled to turn your stuff off, it will turn it off. Otherwise, you will need to manually turn off your stuff, or wait until it turns off you stuff at the next regularly scheduled time (twenty-four hours later).

If WiFi connectivity is lost, the smart plug will continue to operate in the same state, unless a schedule has been applied to the smart plug, in which case it will follow the set schedule.
