This device only turns power on and off. Its the same as plugging in the air conditioner and unplugging it. So no, the AC will not become a smart AC.

Technically yes and no . If you have an ac with an older style turn dial , just set it to on and leave it , allow the plug to supply the power , and then you can control the plug . Newer push button models will have issues with this , which is why just now come with the ability to connect to WiFi . In both cases you can control it with Alexa yes . But if you have the newer push button style and it does not connect to WiFi , the working isn’t going to work as it should
