I added just one to my house, then used the other two at my parent's home. I suspect you could even have them in the same proximity and still specify separate networks to connect to...they do not (to my knowledge) peer-to-peer and are each an independent device. If I recall, they must connect to 2.4GHz networks. Note, when it first booted and detected motion, it alarmed quite alarmingly, so if you do not want the camera to sound an alarm when detecting motion, then you need to disable this once you configure the camera. Regardless, it is not a good idea to first-boot these late at night when the rest of the family is asleep, as it is quite loud.
