I bought the trafone SIM card for my Apple phone from Best Buy for about roughly $1.00 I believe. 
Product name “‘bring your own smart phone sim kit”’

It came with 3 separate SIM cards in the kit
I used the AT AND T COMPATIBLE one for my Apple phone 
I had AT AND T UNLOCK MY PHONE which took 24 hours to take effect from request date

Had no problems as account was in good standing and contract with AT AND T was fulfilled

I believe 7/11 store carries the sim kit also

Almost all retailers sell TracFone Sim cards.
They are good only for use with TracFone service providers in USA.
