You have to purchase the electronic gift card first. Once Best Buy completes your order, they will email you a link to access the gift card. At that point, you can either redeem the gift card for yourself or you can send it as a gift. It shouldn't matter either way because the gift card is a unique code that must be entered into your epic games account.

It is a lot quicker to just buy a PlayStation store gift card and use on Vbucks. Buying a Vbucks gift card is a lot of extra work. You have to sign into Epic website redeem the gift card there for a PlayStation store code, then go to PlayStation store and redeem. when I could just buy a PlayStation store gift card and skip the whole epic part of transferring the Vbucks gift card into a usable platform gift card.
