Is the screen an actual mirror that can be used as a traditional rear view mirror while still recording the front and rear view while driving? This is for a new driver and I don’t want to overwhelm her with tech but would like to record her driving. null

Yes. The camera activates when you put it in reverse then comes on as showing forward & backward views simultaneously for 30 seconds after you go forward. then it reverts to a regular rearview mirror.

Yes, it records front and rear even if display is turned off as long as it is plugged in.
