“How do you hook up composite connection. I have 3 cables from the cable box for video (Y, PB and PR) but there is only one port on the back of the TV set which is V? I have tried hooking up just the Y cable to the V port and got no picture.”

The TV has what is called a phono port. You'll need to use a phono port adapter for that.
