To get your local over the air channels you will need an antenna connected to the TV.

Well I have digital antenna hooked to it but never use it. I watch strictly Internet TV. Digital antenna does work and receives good. So it’s your preference. Internet tv works better for me. No you don’t need one to watch Internet TV.

External HD antennae is needed for OTA broadcasts. Tuner works pretty good actually when on the antenna.

Yes. But you can also connect it to Ethernet if you subscribe to any of the streaming services.
