“I have Charter/Spectrum as my Cable provider. Bought a new tv a few weeks ago only to get it home and find out it is not totally compatible with Spectrum remote. Will I be able to use the charter spectrum remote on this tv? I only want to use 1 remote”

You should be able to use one remote for this. You might have to program that cable remote to send the TV the correct signal to control it though. You won't be able to access the menu and Smartcast features with that cable remote though.
