The countertop unit has a wand that stays attached to the unit. It retracts automatically and is held in an upright position magnetically.

This means it has a hose that connects the handle to the rest of the unit, it has a wide range of pressure settings. However, it is compact and can be used for travel. While it will need to be occasionally charged, it doesn't need an active electrical outlet to power on. It is also not a shower safe model. Hand held flossers are cordless (some use AA batteries and some use a rechargeable battery).They have no hose, so the entire unit will fit in your hand, but they do have fewer settings and a smaller reservoir.
