• Hello Germaphobe - Running distilled white vinegar and warm water through the unit and handle regularly, as recommended, will prevent the issue by breaking down any buildup that may be accumulating. • The tube stays full of water, but the water is replaced each time the unit is used. I suppose things could grow if you let it sit for an extended period, but that should not happen if you use it daily.
