Yes but only x\s and optimized, non optimized games are better on a USB external drive

"expansion cards" allow data to be played from it. external hard drives are strictly storage that require downloading the game back to console hard drive. think ur seagate drive as a storage locker. when u want things u go get them and take them home. this adds space to ur home
