This is a 3.5" hard drive, which is a size that is not compatible with laptops. You will need a 2.5" hard drive to fit a laptop, as well as an open space for it.

If I remember correctly, the Inspiron is a notebook and this will not fit. I don't think it even has an interior cut out to fit a platter HDD, only a PCIe NVME drive. You could, however, use this as a portable HDD into your USB port with the right enclosure. But for the $$ I'd suggest a ready made portable drive or upgrading your internal NVME drive.
