“I'm using window 10. Can I install apps to this external hard drive ? How can I do it ? when I need apps I will plug in. When I don't need I just unplug. Thank you.”

Go to "System/Storage/Save locations/New app will save to" and choose USB. Good luck!

Applications typically put files into the Windows/System directories, which would only exist on a computer on which the application was installed previously. However, depending upon the app, it may be self contained and could be installed and run on the hard drive.
