A:AnswerDepending on how you format and mount it, you should be able to install applications to it without any problem. It is accessed via USB though, so it's noticeably slower than the internal drive, so consider how much data you'll be pulling from/pushing to the drive in your decision making.
A:AnswerI had the same problem, then I realized that this is America. We aren't supposed to know what to do. We are just supposed to buy this crap, and figure it out for ourselves. Once you plug it into your computer, you should be able to find it listed in Settings - Storage or Local Storage depending on the brand of computer you have. Once you find your portable hard drive, you are on your own. I had the Geek Squad come to my home and set up all of my drives for me when I bought my new computer. Manufacturer's love keeping us in the dark concerning how to properly operate their products. Hope this helps.
A:AnswerRight click the picture you want to send to the WD device, it will show you a list. In that list will be "send to" and should name your WD drive there, highlight it and your picture will go there. If you want to send more than 1 at a time hold down CTRL on keyboard and click the ones you want sent, right click and find the "send to" and the WD drive. If you want an entire folder sent do the same thing, right click, etc.
A:AnswerThe only way to check files is to open your file icon on the taskbar and see if the drive shows up. Then click the drive and review the files, if any.
A:Answeri do not think a SSD within a laptop will affect this external hard drive's use. This hard drive is just like a flash drive, but the size is bigger and the transfer speed is faster.
A:AnswerThis is an external hard drive. It is used in the same way as the drive on your computer. You delete a file as needed and if you want to edit a document, you retrieve the document into your editing program, as you would from your computer hard drive, and make changes and resave it. I use it for retrieving and saving from desktop to laptop, as well as a backup. I can edit on any computer at any time. I hope this helps.
