I can tell you that with any ordinary computer and operating system, you can absolutely transfer files from this external drive to another connected drive (internal or external), and you can absolutely add files, modify files, delete files easily using the computer’s Operating system disk utilities software, You are probably trying to access files that were stored in a format which another program on your computer cannot read, hence cannot manage. For example, I can use a video editing program that uses a proprietary format for storing videos. Then I use a different video or photo program to view, delete, or modify and the program cannot do anything with that file because it cannot understand the format. I would have to go back to the program that created the file. In that program I could probably STORE AS and select a format that I know other programs I use would accept. Your computer’s disk utility software will allow you to delete any file on your external Hard drive, or transfer any file to another storage drive such as your built in Hard drive, or another external drive.
