A:AnswerYes, you can connect the external drive to a usb cable and connect it to your computer. Then you will be able to access all the data on the external drive.
A:AnswerCheck to make sure the drive is formatted NTFS. Please note that NTFS formatting will only work with certain Windows OS, but if you have anything remotely current, it shouldn't be an issue. Once the drive is formatted NTFS you should have no issues wth large files.
A:AnswerI know Dish always says you have to use a 2TB or smaller external HDD and one that has its own power source that isn't powered through the USB port, but I have used 3TB (with it's own power cord) and a 4TB that's powered by USB as well as USB flash drives and have never had a problem.
I've used Seagate (most of them), Toshiba, WD, and even SanDisk USB flash drives; so I don't think brands matter.

You can give it shot and if it doesn't work, you can always use it for something else. It never hurts to have a second backup drive. Once you have a hard drive fail on you and you lose family pics and important documents, superfluous backups seem essential.
A:AnswerI'm not sure I understand the question. You should be able to transfer photos as videos to your phone provided you can connect the device cable to your phone. You should also be able to upload files in a similar manner.
A:AnswerI assume you are using Windows of which we are not experts, we use various Linux OS on out home computers. However, I would imaging that if you want you can clone the drive you have now and put it on the this external drive and when you get your new desktop just transfer the drive to the new machine. We have done that often with out Linux OSs however, you might want to Google that for Windows and I am sure there are plenty of YouTube videos that can walk you through each step to do this to make sure do it right. See if you have any backup software app on the computer like time-shift that copies the drive and stores it off the machine (external drive or Cloud) as you might be able to use it to do the same thing. Good luck but please check out YouTube or Google to make sure you are doing it for your exact OS.
A:AnswerYou can go to the manufacturers website and find your product using part and serial #s for support info and device drivers/upgrades. Western digital should have all information to fix your back ups readability and parameters if u cant get it readable again it may very well be that the data on external drive is corrupted, and unfortunately at that point u may just have to reset entirely redownload drivers for hard drive. Which also means you will lose all stored data on drive i hope this helps u fix your device without losing data.
