• No need to format. Single large file should transfer albeit slow. I tried multiple large files at once and it crashes. It may take only one large file at a time to be successful.

• You don't format the drive. I have used them for Network backup so my files are much larger than 16gb and never any problems for me.

• I have files larger than 16GB on this drive. It is formatted as NTFS. When you install the drive, make sure you have a Windows 10 DVD or ISO file for a fresh install. Windows will take care of the formatting for you.
