“Purchased WD My Passport. Packaging states among contents is a "Quick Install Guide". Is there an actual written brochure guide or is that included in the setup when the drive is connected to the PC?”

It is included in the setup when the drive is connected to the PC. I downloaded the guide to have a physical copy that I can refer to any time.

Just plug the drive into a USB port. It will be recognized automatically.

Both, there is a (short) pamphlet that walks you through the setup and it also pops up when you plug it in. I found a better more extensive Owner Manual and Setup Guide online for some troubleshooting and advanced setup.

It says in the papers you can go to the website http://products.wd.com/docs, and is sometimes pre-loaded on certain products. I didn't see a guide in the package.
