Can I use my passport for security cameras (dvr) null

Technically yes. But most DVR systems dont have a "smart" enough motherboard to be able to recognize an external drive. I would recommend getting a desktop internal hard drive for a security system, you have to open up the DVR part of the security system and physically plug it into the SATA cable and screw it down. Most Cheap Survailence systems dont gave one inside thats why theyre so cheap. So I wouldn't recommend this external drive for your situation.
