No. It does have USB 3 so if your laptop has a USB 3 port and you connect it you will get fast data transfers.

It will perform faster than a 2.0 external drive but will not be faster than your laptop.

If you put info on it and then free up space I would think so. Better ask a Geek Squad person for sure. They know their stuff.
