• It would no work with my older Mac which was a OS X 10.7.5.

• Yes. It works on both PC OS or Mac OS. You just need to format it accordingly depending on what the My Passport is originally formatted in. Some My Passport comes pre-formatted to PC. Others comes pre-formatted to Mac OS. Look at the box for what it comes in because they sell both OS pre-formatted hardrive.
