Probably just the design that’s about it as long as it does it job of holding more games then that’s all the matters

I'm not sure and questioned that myself, but it may be that is specifically designed / programmed for the PlayStation to be recognized and act as a seamless memory storage without additional steps or concerns about generic storage options. Again, I'm not totally sure and perhaps some other reviews or technical guidelines may help. I think other storage options will work fine, but believe this is a seamless storage option and have been very pleased with it. Good luck.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.IT CAN. SOME DRIVES LOAD SLIGHTLY FASTER. SSD HARD DRIVES ARE LIGHTNING FAST BUT KINDA EXPENSIVE RIGHT NOW. THIS DRIVE WORKS PERFECTLY FINE ON XBOX ONE AND PS4.

In the last black friday I got a WD 8Tb external unit from best buy and started using as external unit for his Xbox S (again no problems). Not sure about PS4 compatibility but for Xbox S I saw no issues at all.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The My Passport Gaming Storage is just for game storage on gaming consoles. The My Passport hard drives are for PC's and laptop's( i.e. computers) They look the same but they're not. I was confused at first too.
