• This does not save application data on the drive. The Ps4 doesn't do that with any external drives. It'll keep games on it but for taking saves other places you need to use the PS Plus cloud saving system.

• Sony indicates that the game save data and apps do not install to extended storage, they remain on your console. This is not the right venue for this type of question because it does not relate to the drive but rather to how the console functions.
