• You would have to format it with a FAT file system. The Apple extended file system and the NTFS are proprietary to either Mac OS or Windows. The FAT file system can be read by either operating system.

• The way it was explained to me was crossing platforms would be an issue with this unit. If I was only backing up my Mac it would be fine. Which all I have is Macs. But if I wanted to back up a Mac to use on a pc I couldn’t because it would automatically reformat on pc. I am by no means an expert on this. But to answer your question there are some units that won’t cross transfer. This might be one of them.
